The Uganda Cranes demonstrated resilience as they fought back twice to secure a 2-2 draw against Ghana’s Black Stars in an international friendly match held on Tuesday night in Morocco. The match witnessed goals from both sides, with Steven Mukwala and Muhammed Shaban finding the net for the Cranes, while Jerome Opoku and Jordan Ayew scored for the Black Stars.
The encounter started with an early lead for Ghana, as Jerome Opoku opened the scoring just seven minutes into the game. However, the Cranes quickly responded, with Asante Kotoko’s striker Steven Mukwala leveling the scoreline in the 22nd minute, showcasing the team’s determination to compete.
Despite the Cranes’ efforts, Crystal Palace forward Jordan Ayew managed to regain the lead for Ghana, converting a penalty and putting the four-time African champions back in the driving seat. Nevertheless, KCCA FC striker Mohammed Shaban capitalized on a defensive lapse from the Black Stars to equalize for Uganda with a close-range finish.
The draw against Ghana marks a positive turnaround for the Uganda Cranes after their disappointing performance in their previous match against Comoros Island, where they suffered a 4-0 defeat. Despite the challenging circumstances, the team showcased character and resilience in their encounter with the Black Stars, earning a commendable result to conclude the international break.
