Uganda’s Star Striker Fazila Ikwaput Joins Gokulam Kerala FC in India

Uganda’s leading female striker, Fazila Ikwaput, has officially joined the Indian Women’s Premier League side, Gokulam Kerala FC. Ikwaput, who previously featured for the team in 2018, expressed her happiness upon returning to the Indian side, making an impactful debut by scoring two goals in a match against Sports Odisha FC, resulting in an 8-0 victory for Gokulam Kerala FC.

The 27-year-old striker, formerly with Kampala Queens FC, had a successful 2023/24 FUFA Women Super League season, scoring three goals in four matches before sustaining an injury. Ikwaput’s return to Gokulam Kerala FC marks a significant chapter in her football journey, showcasing her versatility and prowess on the field.




Having been a part of Uganda’s national women’s team in the Africa Women’s Cup of Nations 2022 in Morocco, Ikwaput brings a wealth of experience to her new team. Her professional football journey includes stints in Kazakhstan, Cyprus, and India, making her a well-traveled and seasoned player.




Ikwaput holds the distinction of being the first Ugandan player to not only play but also score in the UEFA Women’s Champions League during her time with Kazakhstan’s BIIK Shymkent. Her diverse experience includes playing for Omonia Nicosia (Cyprus) and various Ugandan sides such as Olila High School, Lady Doves, and Kampala Queens FC.
