This was disclosed by the spokesperson for the Bamasaba Cultural Institution, Mr. Steven Masiga, during a press briefing at the cultural offices.

Mr. Masiga stated that the Umukuka III will represent all African kings at the ceremony. The Umukuka is expected to address the United Nations Organizations (UNO) and UNESCO on cultural matters and solicit support for the preservation of cultural sites in his kingdom.

The Bamasaba Cultural Institution, under the umbrella organization Inzu Ya Masaba, encompasses a kingdom or cultural area that includes the districts of Bududa, Namisindwa, Mbale City, Mbale District, Sironko, Bulambuli, Manafwa, Bungoma County, and Transzoia (Kitale).

The kingdom also has subjects in neighboring countries, including parts of Teso and Samia, as observed by Mr. Steven Masiga.

The Bamasaba cultural leader was gazetted last year in accordance with the Cultural Leaders Act of 2011, the Constitution of Uganda, Article 246, as well as other legal provisions like the Local Government Act and the National Cultural Policy of 2019.

The Bamasaba people, both in Kenya and Uganda, as well as those in the diaspora, number over 15 million, according to cultural statistics.

Following the inauguration, the Umukuka III will visit notable individuals in the United States, including Professor Florence Wakoko of Columbus State University and Dr. Stephen Mungoma, among others.
