Leading events organizer, Evolve Africa, has released its annual Uganda Marketing Excellence Awards (UMEAS) 2023 report. John-Paul Okwi, president of the jury overseeing the UMEAS 2022/2023, revealed that over 250 campaign assets were evaluated to uncover the reasons behind their success. Winners demonstrated strengths in cutting through clutter, creating brand memories, and distinguishing themselves in consumers’ minds.
The distinguished jury, comprising industry professionals such as Dr. Benedict Mugerwa, Ngulumi Immaculate Nabatte, John Paul Okwi, Rogers Anguzu, Barbara Arimi, and Jackie Namara, evaluated submissions based on pre-established criteria.
Criteria for judging included alignment with marketing and corporate strategies, sharing of market insights informing campaign execution, execution quality, budgeting, and impact measurement.
Shafic Ssemakula, Co-founder of Evolve Africa, highlighted the thorough analysis conducted on data and insights from the 2023 UMEAS entrants and winners to compile the report. He emphasized that the report aims to deepen understanding of successful marketing strategies.
