Apac, Uganda – UPC party president Hon. Jimmy Michael Akena, who also doubles as the Lira City East MP and son of the late UPC president Dr. Apollo Milton Obote, received a red carpet welcome in Apac on September 9, 2023. He arrived in Apac via Lake Kwania on a ferry.
He later commissioned a sitting tent donated by Ms. Susan Achola Engola for the UPC party.
“I need to give a special thank you here. There is a lady who made us be here today. She invited me to come and commission the tent,” said Akena.
Akena, whose rally attracted all walks of life from the UPC party, said, “We won in Oyam because we were united. Nobody is going to steal the vote of UPC.”
“Before we reached here, we went through our home in Akokoro and I told my leaders of UPC that when my life is over, I want to be buried in the feet of my father. But I am not in a hurry to go in the ground. I want to be among those who see Jesus when he returns.”
Akena implored the UPC party to work together and register as eligible voters for the forthcoming elections of 2026.
“I am ready to go through anything for the people of Uganda,” said MP Akena. “So we are going to prepare for an election. I, together with the leaders of UPC, we are going to move round the country to get ready for the people of Uganda in the 4th coming election.”
He said the UPC party gave several opportunities to the people of Uganda, such as providing good medicine, good education, and a decent living. Akena said he is ready for that journey.
He promised to honor the love that the people of Apac and the Lango sub-region as a whole showed to him during his visit to Apac.
