Daniel Ojara, Oyam District – The renovation of the Outpatient Department (OPD) at Anyeke Health Center IV in Oyam Town Council, Oyam District, being undertaken by the Uganda People’s Defense Force (UPDF) Engineering Brigade, is now 75% complete.

The renovation, which was initially scheduled to take three months, began in August this year. The project includes the expansion of the OPD with a laboratory room, a drug store, and other facilities. The total cost of the project is 334,009,487 Ugandan shillings.

Moses Etiang, the site engineer for the project at Anyeke Health Center IV, says they expect the work to be completed by December this year. The contract was extended by one and a half months due to delays caused by a shortage of materials on-site.

Oyam District LC V Chairperson Dilla Benson says the goal of the renovation is to upgrade Anyeke Health Center IV to a General Hospital, a status it is expected to achieve soon.

Anyeke Health Center IV in Oyam District serves a total of 23,019 patients annually, with 1,919 patients visiting monthly and 443 patients seen weekly.
