The West Nile subregion gathered on April 12, 2025, in Yumbe District to mark 22 years of peace and security. Residents flocked to Geya Primary School in Yumbe Town for the West Nile Peace Day festivities.
President Yoweri Museveni was the Guest of Honour at this remarkable celebration of the National Resistance Movement’s (NRM) achievement in bringing peace and stability across the country.
During the celebrations, supporters of the Patriotic League of Uganda and Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba were seen raising banners, expressing their solidarity and appreciation for the country’s peace and stability.
They attributed the prevailing peace in the West Nile region to Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, a committed patriot who has dedicated much of his life to serving in the UPDF and restoring peace in Uganda.
These patriots pledged to align themselves with all supporters of the Patriotic League of Uganda who are backing Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba.
Collectively, the people of West Nile pledged their overwhelming support for H.E. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni in the 2026–2031 term. They also expressed their support for Hon. Michael Mawanda as NRM Vice Chairman for the Western Region, emphasizing that he is a true patriot who admires and supports both Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba and President Museveni.
Hon. Mawanda has received a warm welcome from many supporters across the country since declaring his candidacy for the NRM Vice Chairmanship.
More developments are expected to unfold as the NRM Delegates Conference draws near, where a decision will be made on who will represent the Western Region in the NRM’s top decision-making body, the Central Executive Committee (CEC).
