The District Chairman of Obongi, Hon. Abibu Buga Khemis Awadi, has halted a move by the embattled former Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) of Obongi district, Andrew Leru, to clandestinely promote several civil servants in Obongi District Local Government, suspected of improper conduct.

On March 7, 2024, LCV Chairman Hajji Abibu Buga wrote to former CAO Leru, expressing concern over the handling of internal promotions. Some of the civil servants Leru intends to promote are allegedly implicated in various corruption scandals and are currently under investigation.

The District Chairman convened a District Executive Committee (DEC) meeting on Thursday, March 7, 2024, but CAO Andrew Leru boycotted the session.

Following news of his transfer from Obongi District to Manafa District, Leru is alleged to have expedited the preparation of fully signed promotion files for civil servants and submitted them to the District Service Commission for processing.

These actions have prompted the District Chairman to call for an investigation into Leru’s conduct and the handling of promotions within Obongi District Local Government.
