Winnie Byanyima, the Executive Director of UNAIDS, has advised Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the First Son of President Museveni, to explore other pursuits instead of attempting to lead the country. In a video-recorded speech, Byanyima emphasized the importance of focusing on critical national issues and discouraged spending time on Muhoozi’s aspirations, suggesting that he should refrain from leading the country altogether.
Byanyima called attention to the accomplishments of President Museveni but noted the need for the country to address pressing issues. She urged that General Muhoozi Kainerugaba should be directed towards alternative endeavors and not be involved in the leadership of the nation.
Highlighting the complexities of running the country and addressing poverty, Byanyima emphasized the necessity of experience in leadership, suggesting that Muhoozi and his associates lack the required expertise. She stated that leadership is a learned and experiential process, not a role one simply stumbles into without a thorough understanding of the responsibilities involved. Byanyima expressed the view that running a nation requires a level of competence that Muhoozi and his circle currently lack.
