Information reaching our desk reveals that all Members of Parliament of the 11th Parliament should quickly seek prayers from a powerful pastor or any man of God, as what they allegedly consumed at the Bukedea home of the former Speaker was “nothing but charms,” according to unverified claims.
In August 2023, the outgoing Speaker of Parliament, Anita Annet Among, hosted over 300 MPs at her country home in Bukedea District, in an event presented as a thanksgiving, housewarming, and political homecoming. The lavish gathering also featured a church service.
The claim now circulating suggests that the event was a camouflaged political gathering, allegedly intended to strengthen loyalty and influence among Members of Parliament.
It is alleged that there was a mixture of “charms” reportedly imported from Zanzibar, China, the UK, and India, which were prepared in food served during the event. However, these claims remain unverified and lack any official evidence.
According to the same allegations, some MPs reportedly became confused after the event, while others allegedly began behaving unusually, claims that could not be independently verified.
Sources familiar with the matter further claim that MPs fully participated in the event and did not object to anything the Speaker said during or after the gathering.
Meanwhile, reports indicate that several vehicles, including the official vehicle previously used by the Speaker, were taken to the CID headquarters in Kibuli as investigations into alleged illicit enrichment continue.
The allegations have not been independently verified, and no official statement has been issued to confirm the claims.
