It is very easy to control the sound of gassing not to be heard by the public, but it is not easy to control the smell of it after silently coming out. What the current troubled former Speaker of Parliament, Anita Among, is going through was helped by a section of members of the 11th Parliament who, according to me, should all record their statements.
When Anita brought her plan to hold regional parliamentary sittings, a section of MPs, both on the side of NRM and opposition, rejected it because they looked at it as a wastage of taxpayers’ money. But because a majority of the MPs wanted to push the former Speaker into trouble, they all backed her plan.
When some MPs from NRM and opposition collected signatures to have the matter debated on the floor of Parliament, the now troubled Speaker refused it to be tabled.
Little did she know that those MPs from the opposition and NRM were trying to save her from the current saga. If she had accepted, many issues would have come out and she could have seen how to solve it, but because she had developed too many wings, she had employed many children of judiciary officials. She thought nothing would happen to her.
Right now, all those who were cheering her, where are they? Some have lost elections while others have won, but none of them now wants to be associated with her.
Actually, the majority of the MPs of the 11th Parliament are busy praying day and night for the complete downfall of Anita Among.
The ongoing investigations on her alleged enrichment will end up leaving Anita with her old clothes and two pairs of shoes that she used to wear when she was still in her early days in Bukedea. Ugandans should know that President Museveni of 2006, 2011, 2016, and 2021 is not the same as in 2026.
He has lost his tolerance for corrupt officials. Those who think they can steal public funds and continue sweet-talking the President through praising him should know that this term is a term of no jokes.
Remember our mighty General, the Badman General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has already gotten the list of all corrupt officials, and he will soon pick them up. Watch the space.
