They ate, built, drove, and won elections through Hon Among, but they left her alone with a cross

Steven Ariong

Before Jesus Christ faced all that he faced, he had many followers. They ate together, moved together, laughed together. At one point, he even told some of them openly that some of you will disown me at last, but his friends looked among themselves in disbelief.

But when the time came for the arrest of Jesus Christ, friends started disappearing from him. The person who helped Jesus carry the cross was someone called Simon of Cyrene, who never even attended any meeting or meals with Jesus.

At least Jesus knew what he was going to face after, unlike my sister Among, who up to the time of the raid at her home did not expect it.

Jesus was performing miracles of healing the sick, resurrecting the dead, feeding the hungry, and helping the poor. He did not misuse the powers that God gave him, but for the case of my sister Among, when President Museveni gave her powers to use as Speaker of Parliament, she instead misused it by enriching herself and supporting the few, especially those in politics.

She used those powers to perform “miracles” by ensuring that names of women who were aspiring against her in Bukedea were removed from the NRM and Electoral Commission register. This publication will bring out the name of one commissioner she was using to delete the names of aspiring candidates from the Electoral Commission register in the next article.

In fact, most Ugandans had started worshipping and kneeling down for her in order to be supported, and she was generous to them anyway. That is why she brought almost every person under her influence.

She had powers to even impose a candidate, even if that person did not originate from that district or constituency.

By doing that, my sister did not have time to sit down and sort out who was actually supporting her genuinely; instead, she was after numbers.

And indeed the numbers were there, because any function, be it a birthday or fundraising, without her being the chief guest was considered a fake function.

But my question is: where have these people whom the former Speaker helped to gain their positions gone? This publication, in the next article, will provide all the details and the names, as well as the amount of money that each of the MPs and ministers who received money from Hon Among but now have shunned her.

My sister Among, let us pray that the President pardons you so that you can have time to reflect on all that we are writing. If you had supported the renovation of Soroti Regional Referral Hospital or Kamuli, Mbale, Jinja, Gulu, or Karamoja hospitals as your initiative as Speaker, trust me every patient who goes and gets healed from those facilities would ask God to bless and keep you alive.

If you had used that money and constructed a public stadium, educated the orphans, helped the widows, provided bicycles to the disabled ones, and provided reading materials to the blind people regardless of where they come from, not necessarily Teso, trust me their prayers would have helped you more than those politicians that you supported and now are saying carry your cross alone.

I know Mzee will forgive you at one point, but so that you can go and get enrolled for a diploma in self-discipline and caring.
