A group of women MP aspirants in Kisoro District has cautioned voters against accepting money for votes, warning that such practices could hinder development in the area. The remarks were made today as the candidates resumed their campaigns after the Independence Day break, with all 13 candidates jointly holding rallies at Shaza Playground in Kisoro Municipality and Nyakinama Playground in Nyakinama Sub County.

According to candidates Mahirwe Iren, Niyikiza Louise, and Igraneza Winfred Mbarusha, accepting bribes compromises the district’s development and negatively impacts service delivery.

Candidates Akifeza Grace Ngabirano, Nkurikiye Allen, Dushime Silivia, Twizere Eva, and Blessed Kitentera shared their testimonies, emphasizing their commitment to developing Kisoro’s infrastructure, including roads, schools, and health facilities.

Additionally, Nyiramahoro Aphia and Nirere Fancy Brenda promised to lobby for streetlights in the municipality to reduce criminal activity.

Former woman MP Rose Kabagyeni, Jemimah Irankunda, and Igraneza Winfred Faith Mbarusha also expressed their commitment to enhancing the district through the development of the market sector, particularly focusing on cross-border trade at the underutilized Mupaka border.

Meanwhile, Mujambere Tadeo, the Kisoro District National Resistance Movement (NRM) elections officer, cautioned voters against soliciting money from different aspirants, emphasizing that open NRM election voting will ultimately affect them.
