Operators from Ukraine’s 73rd Naval Special Operations Centre have successfully conducted a raid on enemy positions within Russia’s Kursk region, capturing Russian servicemen and striking enemy forces. The Special Operations Forces’ press service announced the operation, which highlights Ukraine’s ability to operate effectively beyond its borders despite Russian claims of control.

On 26 April, a group from the 73rd Centre attacked a Russian position, destroying a unit from Russia’s 810th Marine Brigade. During the raid, two Russian soldiers were captured by Ukrainian forces. One of the prisoners was carried on a stretcher due to injuries, while the other was able to walk. The successful capture underlines the professionalism and efficiency of Ukraine’s special operations troops.

This latest action contradicts the statements of the Chief of the Russian General Staff, Valery Gerasimov, who had falsely declared the so-called liberation of the Kursk region from Ukrainian Security and Defence Forces. Ukrainian Defence Forces continue to maintain a presence in parts of the Kursk region, actively engaging Russian troops.

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, five combat engagements took place in the Kursk region as of 27 April. Russian forces, in retaliation, carried out one airstrike with two guided aerial bombs, known as KABs, and launched 140 artillery attacks, including seven assaults using multiple launch rocket systems.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian drone operators from Bombus Group destroyed a Russian KAVZ-39765 assault bus in Kursk. While it is unclear if this specific vehicle was used in combat assaults, similar buses have frequently been employed by Russian forces to transport personnel to the front lines.
