Tragedy struck Kabale on December 17th, 2023, when a head-on collision claimed the lives of two individuals. The accident occurred at approximately 2:00 PM near Kabaraga on the Kabale-Mbarara highway.
A red Bajaj Boxer motorcycle carrying two passengers collided with a white Toyota Premio traveling in the opposite direction. Both the motorcycle rider, identified as 30-year-old Davis Arinaitwe, and passenger, John Mucunguzi, also 30, tragically died at the scene.
Preliminary reports indicate the Toyota driver, who remains unidentified and at large, may have been using a mobile phone and driving in the wrong lane. Authorities are actively investigating the cause of the accident and attempting to locate the driver.
Police arrived promptly at the scene led by ASP Mucunguzi Wilson, Officer in Charge of Traffic in Kabale, and Cpl Kambale Isaac.
The deceased were transported to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital for postmortem examinations, while the vehicles involved were impounded at the Kabale police yard for further investigation.
