Kabale District, Uganda – Police have launched a murder investigation after retrieving the body of a 50-year-old man from Kiruruma stream in Kaharo Sub-county. Deus Twesase, a resident of Omurutojo village in Nyakasharara parish, was found with fresh injuries, raising suspicions of foul play.
James, a local resident, discovered Twesase’s lifeless body on Saturday morning and immediately alerted the authorities. Nyakasharara parish councilor Godfrey Byaruhanga informed both the Nyanja police and Kabale Central Police Station.
“Officers arrived promptly at the scene,” stated Elly Maate, the Kigezi Region Police spokesperson. “They documented the scene, retrieved the body, and commenced their investigation.”
Twesase, found wearing a yellow T-shirt and black trousers, sustained a bleeding injury on his upper right eye. According to Maate, a postmortem examination was conducted, and the body has been released to his family for burial.
“While the investigation is in its early stages,” Maate continued, “we urge anyone with information, no matter how small, to come forward and assist in apprehending the perpetrator(s).”
This tragic discovery has shaken the community of Omurutojo village. Neighbors described Twesase as a kind and hardworking man, leaving them questioning the motive behind his apparent murder.
The Kabale Central Police Station is actively pursuing leads and interviewing potential witnesses. Meanwhile, residents remain vigilant, hoping for swift justice and closure for Twesase’s family.
