Mob Justice: Suspected Motorcycle Thief Lynched at Oyam-Nwoya District Border

Yesterday, a suspected motorcycle thief was killed by a mob within the border of Oyam and Nwoya districts in Akuridia village, Kamdini sub-county, Oyam district. The incident happened around 9:00 pm in the evening.

The suspect, a man believed to be around 27 years old, was suspected to have stolen a motorcycle from Karuma town council and started riding towards Oyam district. Immediately, a group of Bodaboda cyclists from Karuma followed him up to Akurigida village, where his motorcycle got stuck, and he was killed on the spot. The mob took off the motorcycle he was riding, and arrests were made.




Terrance Omonya, the chairperson LC3 Kamdini sub-county, Oyam district, says as the incident happened near the borders of Nwoya district, the security teams from Oyam, wildlife authority, and Nwoya district decided to hand over the deceased to Nwoya police station for further investigation.

On the same related issue, a man from Kamdini sub-county, Oyam district, is fighting for his life at Favor Medical Center, Kamdini, after he was seriously beaten by his colleague in a bar on Christmas day.

Okello Anyii, a resident of Kamdini sub-county, reports that he fought with his friend, who is yet to be identified and is on the run, in a bar around 9:00 pm yesterday evening over unknown reasons. He was hit on his head and left unconscious.

Terence Omonya, the chairperson LC3 Kamdini sub-county, Oyam district, confirmed the report and says they are looking for the suspects to face the law.
