Kenya Airways (KQ), the national carrier of Kenya, announced on Thursday an expansion of its codeshare partnership with South African Airways (SAA), the flag carrier airline of South Africa. This expansion includes direct flights from South Africa to South America.

Customers can now enjoy a seamless travel journey to Sao Paulo, Brazil, via Johannesburg on a single ticket. This collaboration involves codesharing on the recently reintroduced South African Airways flight to Sao Paulo (GRU).

Julius Thairu, Chief Commercial and Customer Officer at Kenya Airways, expressed the commitment to providing passengers with enhanced travel options, world-class services, and an extended global reach. Thairu emphasized the strategic cooperation between the two airlines, aiming to offer unmatched travel experiences.

Kenya Airways highlighted the significance of this alliance for travelers moving between Africa and South America. The direct link between South Africa and South America through this collaboration is considered the most direct, contributing to reduced carbon footprint and promoting sustainability in air travel.

The airline stated that passengers will benefit from simplified logistics, reduced layover times, and an overall enhanced travel experience from Kenya to Brazil.
