Police Search for Suspected Welder in Wandegeya Timber Store Fire

Police in Wandegeya, Kampala city, are actively searching for a welder believed to be responsible for a fire that engulfed a timber store, causing extensive damage to property valued at millions. The Kampala Metropolitan Police deputy spokesperson, Luke Oweyesigyire, disclosed that the suspected cause of the fire is attributed to a man welding in close proximity to mattresses or sponges, resulting in sparks that ignited a significant blaze.

Oweyesigyire provided this information during a media briefing in Kampala on Tuesday. The incident unfolded at Makerere Kavule in Kawempe Municipality, resulting in the destruction of furniture, buildings, and other valuable items. The property damage has left over 30 business people stranded.
