Busoga United emerged victorious with a 2-1 win against Kitara FC during their Premier League encounter at the FUFA technical center in Njeru.
The goals for Busoga United were scored by Jeremy Matata and Emmanuel Ajo, while Kitara FC managed to score a lone goal through a penalty converted by Paul Muchurezi.
Kitara FC displayed strength in the initial 10 minutes of the game but faced an unexpected setback when Busoga United scored their first goal. Despite Kitara’s goal early in the second half, Busoga secured another goal, intensifying the competition as both teams struggled to consolidate their positions.
Brian Ssenyondo, Kitara’s head coach, expressed disappointment over the mistakes in defense that led to Busoga’s goals. Despite a convincing win (7-1) against Arua Hills last week, Kitara’s hopes for a comfortable victory were dashed by their hosts.
Busoga United’s head coach, Peter Onen, revealed that their game plan aimed at securing maximum points to move away from the relegation zone, which they successfully achieved. He emphasized the team’s commitment to staying in the league and making positive strides throughout the season.
With this win, Busoga United currently holds the 12th position in the Uganda Premier League (UPL) standings with 15 points, maintaining a safe distance from the relegation zone. Kitara FC is positioned second in the UPL table with 26 points, trailing behind BUL FC, who leads with 32 points.
