Police ballistic experts have initiated the examination of the vehicle in the aftermath of the recent shooting incident involving Pastor Aloysius Bujingo and his assistant, where his bodyguard Richard Muhumuza lost his life. The shooting incident took place on Buwalakata road in Namungoona, Lubaga Division, with gunmen on a motorcycle opening fire on Bujingo’s vehicle.
Richard Muhumuza, aged 45 and hailing from Sembabule district, tragically lost his life in the attack. Despite sustaining over 10 bullet wounds, questions have arisen regarding how Bujingo managed to drive the car from the crime scene to Mulago Hospital.
The vehicle, bearing the personalized number plate PRAIZ GOD, is currently parked at the Directorate of Forensic Science (DFS) in Naguru. This location also houses vehicles involved in the assassinations of prominent figures like AIGP Andrew Felix Kaweesi, Muhammad Kirumira, Sheikh Maj Muhammad Kiggundu, and CAO Charles Ogwang.
Five ballistic and forensic experts have been assigned to examine Bujingo’s vehicle, focusing on establishing shooting angles. The analysis will involve examining bullet cartridges from the crime scene, those found inside the car, and bullets recovered from Muhumuza’s body. The goal is to determine vehicle and body penetration angles and range, helping experts establish the distance and angles of the shooters.
Contrary to previous high-profile assassinations where vehicles were riddled with bullets, Bujingo’s vehicle did not suffer such extensive damage. The investigation will consider whether the attackers targeted the tires or aimed directly at the occupants. Initial reports indicate that the tires were not targeted, and Bujingo survived with minor scratches despite multiple bullets.
Luke Owoyesigyire, the Deputy Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson, mentioned that investigators will heavily rely on CCTV footage to determine whether Bujingo was being trailed or if the attackers were waiting for him at the spot. A second interaction with Pastor Bujingo is planned, as he emerges as a key witness in the ongoing investigation.
