Officials in Kamuli Municipality report that Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) have shown significant progress in the effective utilization of Parish Development Model (PDM) funds. The Municipality received Shs1.08 billion, with each of the 10 parishes receiving Shs108,500,000 to engage in various enterprises.

Stanislaus Mangasa, the Kamuli Town Clerk, expressed satisfaction, stating that PWDs are taking the lead and making significant progress in utilizing the funds. The funds aim to transform household incomes and encourage a business and productive mindset among the beneficiaries.

Isaac Ibanda, the Kamuli Municipality Production Officer and PDM focal point officer, mentioned that people are adopting modern farming practices and effectively utilizing the support provided by field staff and structures.

Wycliffe Kamadhi, a 46-year-old PWD from Bukabale Zone, Northern Division, used the received funds to purchase a crossbreed cow. He emphasized the importance of demonstrating that PWDs can succeed in various enterprises. Kamadhi, who engages in growing matooke (plantains) and rearing goats and local chicken, suggested that the government should consider physical ability while disbursing funds.

Eva Nabirye, a 63-year-old widow, utilized PDM funds to buy eight piglets, projecting a recoup of Shs2.4 million. Nabirye, who lives near pork butchers and local brew joints, chose to invest in piggery. She shared her success, mentioning that people are already willing to pay Shs300,000 for each pig.

Officials have briefed extension field staff to support enterprise management and ensure the positive transformation of household incomes.
