During the burial in Adilang, Agago District, the family of Uganda's first pilot, Ambrose Ojok, expressed their concerns to Brigade Commander RDC Hasaka Samuel Mpimbaza, urging him to convey their concerns to President Museveni.

The family and relatives of one of the first pilot engineers have made an appeal to His Excellency, President Museveni, urging him to investigate the death of their father, who was allegedly killed during the regime of former President Iddi Amin Dada. This plea was voiced during the burial ceremony for the late Janet Achaye, sister of Engineer Ambrose Ojok, at Adilang in Agago district on Saturday.

The family of the late engineer Ambrose Ojok also requested President Yoweri Museveni Kaguta to recognize and honor the deceased’s wife, retired Mary Akot, the first Karamojong police officer. The mourners urged the authorities, including Brigade Commander Nakaperomor in Kotido Col. Byaruhanga David Otim and Obongi Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Mr. Samuel Mpimbaza Hashaka, to convey their message to President Museveni. They called for the declaration of Mary Akot and Engineer Ambrose as heroes, compensation for the family, and an investigation into the death of their father, whose body has never been found.

Recently, Akot Mary Grace, from her official home in Orwamuge town council, Abim district, expressed her desire to meet H.E Gen Yoweri Museveni Kaguta for a presidential handshake. She revealed her struggles to reach out to the President and seek assistance in locating the remains of her husband, who was killed during Amin’s regime. Akot complained of being denied a medal despite her service in the Uganda police force from 1970 to her retirement in 2005.

According to Akot, she joined the police force when there were only three Karamojong women, and she was recommended for a medal on Labor Day in Patongo Town council, Agago district, on May 1, 2019, but was not invited to the ceremony.

Akot Mary Grace is now requesting the intervention of H.E. President Yoweri Museveni Kaguta to address her concerns. She seeks recognition for her diligence, nationalism, and patriotism, as well as compensation for her husband’s death during the Amin era. Akot is survived by four grandchildren and her four children: Esther Immaculate Ajwang, Pamela Anying, Odyeny, and Ambrose Ojok, among others.
