The Opposition Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) has officially endorsed Ms. Rosemary Alwoc Ogwal, daughter of the late Cecilia Ogwal, to contest in the Dokolo Woman Member of Parliament by-election.

Top officials of the FDC Najjanankumbi faction held a closed-door meeting with Ms. Alwoc and her family on February 5, where they assured her of their full support in replacing her late mother, who was on the FDC ticket.

During the meeting at the party headquarters in Kampala, the party officials also aimed to familiarize Ms. Alwoc with the local political landscape, considering her extended stay abroad.

An anonymous party official revealed that Ms. Alwoc will carry the FDC flag for the by-election, emphasizing that she sought assurance from the party regarding financial and other forms of support.

While there were speculations that Ms. Alwoc might run on the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) ticket or independently, she chose to run on the FDC ticket to uphold her mother’s legacy.

FDC spokesperson, Mr. John Kikonyogo, affirmed that Ms. Alwoc’s decision to align with FDC reflects her voluntary choice and commitment to the party’s values.

Ms. Alwoc herself stated that she would communicate further details about her engagement with FDC officials at a later time, indicating ongoing discussions with the party.
