Buganda Kingdom’s Prime Minister, Charles Peter Mayiga, has expressed dismay over the prevalent unhygienic conditions in Masaka City, urging local leaders to take decisive action to address the situation.

Speaking during the reopening ceremony of the renovated official residence of the Buddu County Chief, Mayiga emphasized the importance of cleanliness in modern society. He highlighted the need for community mobilization to uphold sanitation standards and enhance overall quality of life.

Mayiga specifically criticized the unsightly conditions of homesteads, congested trading centers, and dirty business premises in Masaka, asserting that such environments are unacceptable for civilized communities.

He called upon leaders across all sectors to fulfill their duties diligently and actively contribute to the transformation of their communities. Additionally, Mayiga reaffirmed Buganda Kingdom’s commitment to advocating for a Federal system of administration, which aims to promote equitable socio-economic empowerment through shared governance and resource allocation.

The historic Buddukiro, the traditional residence of the Buddu County Chief, underwent significant renovations after being returned to Buganda Kingdom. Jude Muleke, the current County Chief, reported that substantial repairs were carried out, restoring the house’s legacy and significance within the kingdom.

Mathias Mpuuga Nsamba, Member of Parliament for Nyendo-Mukungwe and Commissioner of Parliament, commended the community’s efforts in funding the renovation project, highlighting their dedication to advancing the kingdom’s interests.
