RUBIRIZI, Uganda — The Kichwamba Orphanage Foundation received a donation of essential items from Angella Stress Ministries, during an event in Kichwamba Sub-county, Rubirizi District.
The event was graced by Rubirizi District Community Development Officer (DCDO) Marklevis Mbonye, who used the occasion to warn men in the district against illegal hunting in protected game reserves. He urged the community to engage in government programs aimed at improving livelihoods and reducing poverty.
“Poaching often results in arrests, imprisonment, or even death, leaving many families without support and contributing to the rising number of orphaned children in our communities,” Mbonye said.
Edison Kyagaba, Director of Kichwamba Orphanage Foundation, said the organization was established after realizing that many children in the area had become orphans and needed care. He explained that, although the foundation runs a school to support the children, it faces significant challenges due to limited resources.
Kyagaba emphasized that the orphanage targets vulnerable children to help them realize their full potential through education and care. Its mission is to educate, empower, transform, and care for orphans and other vulnerable children, including those living with HIV and those who lost parents to poaching in Rubirizi District.
He thanked Angella Stress Ministries for their generosity, saying their support restores hope to the orphanage’s students.
Meanwhile, Angella Stress, founder of Angella Stress Ministries, commended the orphanage for its work in supporting vulnerable children and pledged to continue providing assistance. Among the donated items were clothes, posho, rice, money, soap, toilet paper, and sanitary pads.
