To be considered for this role, candidates should possess the following skills and attributes:




Skills:




  • Proficiency in computer use, including Microsoft Office applications such as MS Excel, MS Word, and Power Point.

  • Excellent multitasking abilities.
  • Analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities.

Qualifications:

To qualify for the position, candidates should have:




  • A diploma in one of the following fields: Records and Information Management, Journalism, Liberal Arts, Social Sciences, Information Science, Communication and Public Relations, or Secretarial Studies.
  • Obtained a credit in Mathematics and English at O’ Level.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The Information Assistants will be responsible for the following tasks:

  1. Analyzing patrons’ requests to determine the required information and assisting in locating or providing that information.
  2. Maintaining records of circulation and materials.
  3. Checking books in and out of the library.
  4. Making archives accessible to various users.
  5. Updating the library user database.
  6. Preparing a monthly Library User Statistics Report.
  7. Preparing materials for distribution.
  8. Updating the publications registers (Accessions Register).
  9. Regularly undertaking stocktaking and weeding.
  10. Filing newspapers and photocopying paper clips.
  11. Organizing materials for UBOS exhibitions.
  12. Participating in the preparation of the section’s budget and work plan.
  13. Preparing and submitting timely accountability for resources.
  14. Performing any other responsibilities as assigned from time to time.
