JOBS, JOBS: Apply Now for District Cyber Security Jobs Under New National Digital Forensics Initiative

As Uganda’s digital economy expands deeper into rural communities, cybercrime is no longer limited to corporate offices in major cities. Recognizing this growing threat, the Cyber Security and Forensics Association of Uganda (CSFAU) has launched a nationwide strategy aimed at strengthening the country’s digital defenses.

The initiative, known as the Uganda National Cyber Digital Forensic Initiative (UNCDFI), seeks to decentralize cybersecurity expertise by deploying trained professionals across villages, parishes, and districts.

Dubbed the National Cyber Forensics–Sovereign Grid, the program is designed to move technical capacity away from urban centers and closer to communities, enabling faster detection and response to digital threats at the grassroots level.

Creating Local Jobs Through the “Sentinel” Career Path

Beyond enhancing national security, the initiative is also expected to create employment opportunities for IT professionals across Uganda.

Through the recruitment of District Cyber Forensic Representatives, the program offers a structured career path for local talent. Successful recruits will be deployed as specialized cyber experts capable of responding to digital crimes within their communities.

Under the initiative, selected candidates will receive professional certification and official recognition as vetted representatives within the National Cyber Forensics Grid. They will also be prioritized for forensic consultancy and technical assignments within their respective districts, ensuring economic benefits remain within local communities.

Protecting Public Funds Through Digital Oversight

The importance of localized cybersecurity expertise is evident in the implementation of the Parish Development Model (PDM), a government program that allocates Shs100 million annually to each parish to help households transition into the money economy.

However, concerns have recently been raised by the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) regarding transparency and the rollout of the Parish Development Model Information System (PDMIS) digital platform.

CSFAU’s district-level experts are expected to play a critical role in addressing these challenges by providing technical oversight to ensure funds reach intended beneficiaries without interference from cyber fraudsters.

They will also assist local governments in investigating digital irregularities and provide community awareness on cyber safety. Representatives such as Susan Ashaba in Lira and Mugabe Ayesigwa Pleasure in Kabale have already begun sensitizing local communities on how to protect themselves from online fraud.

Call for National Support

CSFAU Founder Emma Muganhwa emphasized that securing the country’s digital infrastructure requires collaboration across government institutions and the private sector.

“We have the talent and the vision, but we cannot do this in isolation,” Muganhwa said. “I am making a strong appeal to local governments, ministries, departments and agencies, and our private sector partners to support this initiative with resources and policy alignment. We need a unified front to protect our national digital economy.”

Project Lead Marvin Kashaija Blessed, a certified cybersecurity and forensic expert, said the initiative is designed to build long-term national capacity.

“We are intentionally growing our local IT talent from the grassroots up,” he noted. “By empowering district representatives, we are not just reacting to threats; we are building a sustainable, sovereign capability — a homegrown ‘Human Firewall’ that starts in the village and protects the entire nation.”
