Lyantonde Mother Arrested After Torturing and Killing 8 Year Old Daughter

Lydia Mbabazi, a 30-year-old resident of Nakaseta cell in Kabatema sub-county, Lyantonde, has been taken into police custody following the torture and subsequent death of her 8-year-old daughter, Olivia Kekikari.

The tragic incident, which occurred on February 14, 2024, has sent shockwaves through the community, as reported by Police Spokesperson Fred Enanga.




According to Enanga, witnesses observed Mbabazi brutally beating her daughter in their home and heard her threatening to end the child’s life. Additionally, Mbabazi allegedly made disturbing remarks about either killing her daughter or taking her to her father in Kabayanda village, Lyantonde district.




The situation escalated further when Mbabazi was seen transporting the injured victim to Lyantonde Hospital. Despite medical intervention, Kekikari was pronounced dead upon arrival, with her body showing clear signs of trauma and injuries sustained during the ordeal.




Enanga disclosed this information during the weekly joint media briefing at Police headquarters in Naguru, Kampala.

In response to the circumstances surrounding her daughter’s death, Mbabazi was promptly apprehended by law enforcement authorities and detained on charges of murder.
