Dokolo, Uganda: Dr. Lalam Grace Anna Atine, Dokolo Woman MP Parliamentary hopeful, has revealed her aspirations based on a number of issues outlined in her manifesto as she vies for the woman MP parliamentary seat in the upcoming March 21, 2024, elections.
Speaking exclusively to The Ankole Times on Thursday, Anna stated that her key priority for the next two years (2024-2026), if elected, will be focused on quick response and action to address the needs of the electorate in Dokolo, particularly poverty eradication. She emphasized that this aligns with her personal manifesto and the legacy of Atat Cecilia, whom she aims to succeed.
Dr. Lalam Grace Anna Atine, a native of Patongo Town Council, Agago District, previously served as a super councilor V in Pader DLG between 2011-2016. She is currently married in Adok Sub-county, Dokolo District, and has gained significant political momentum from voters during her consultations as she journeys towards Parliament to replace the late Atat Cecilia (R.I.P).
During a radio talk show held on LBS Radio station in Dokolo, Anna received positive feedback from callers, particularly regarding her vision to partner with teachers in improving education standards. She outlined plans for projects benefiting primary, secondary, and tertiary institutions, including teacher welfare initiatives, exchange visits, and vocational education sponsorships.
Additionally, Dr. Lalam highlighted her commitment to various projects aimed at uplifting disadvantaged groups, such as providing financial support to sex workers for alternative income generation and offering scholarships to students at different educational levels.
Furthermore, she pledged to focus on sustainable agriculture, market systems, healthcare improvements, and infrastructure development, including the upgrading of health units to health center III status.
Despite aspiring on an independent ticket, Dr. Lalam Grace Anna Atine expressed her willingness to collaborate with all stakeholders, ensuring equitable access to government programs regardless of ethnicity, culture, or religious affiliation.
As the campaign for the by-election in Dokolo will last only seven days, Dr. Lalam has been warmly received by voters during her consultations, positioning her as a strong contender for the vacant Woman MP seat.
With approximately 17 candidates vying for the position of Woman MP Dokolo following the passing of Hon. Cecilia Atim Ogwal, Dr. Lalam Grace Anna Atine has garnered widespread support, earning her the nickname ‘Dokolo Mito Action’ among enthusiastic voters.
