The Uganda Police Force, particularly the Territorial Police in Aswa West Region and Gulu West CPS, is currently holding a 13 year old female pupil, identified as Angee Bakita, in custody. Angee, a South Sudanese national and pupil of Divine Care Nursery and Primary School, stands accused of the murder of her fellow pupil and compatriot, Nyatrich Tracy, aged 14. Both students were residing in the boarding section of the school.
According to the information gathered, the tragic incident occurred during a dispute between the two pupils while they were fetching water. Allegedly, Angee Bakita grabbed Nyatrich Tracy by the neck, resulting in her strangulation. Subsequently, Angee pushed Nyatrich, causing her to fall forcefully to the ground and lose consciousness. Nyatrich was swiftly taken to St. Mary’s Hospital Lacor, where medical professionals pronounced her dead upon arrival. Our thoughts and prayers are extended to her immediate family, friends, and schoolmates during this distressing time.
The families of both pupils undoubtedly find themselves in a state of devastation following the untimely demise of the 14-year-old victim. The body of Nyatrich Tracy has been transported to St. Mary’s Lacor for post-mortem examination, while Angee Bakita, the 13 year old suspect, has been placed under female custody. The act of strangulation leading to the death of her fellow student reflects an exceptionally brutal and tragic incident.
