Kyambogo University is set to unveil the findings of an investigation into allegations of aggravated defilement against Dr. Lawrence Eron, a senior lecturer at the institution. The report, scheduled for release on Wednesday, follows the establishment of a committee by the university’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Eli Katunguka, late last year to probe the accusations against Dr. Eron, aged 56.
Dr. Eron, who formerly served as the dean of the Faculty of Special Needs and Rehabilitation and was acting as the deputy vice-chancellor in charge of finance and administration at the time, faces allegations of defiling a visually impaired girl aged 16.
The much-anticipated report by the investigative committee is poised to be officially unveiled, as announced by the university in an invitation extended to the press for a scheduled press conference. The conference is set to take place at 1 pm within the Central Teaching Facility Auditorium 105.
During the press conference, Prof. Katunguka is expected to disclose the actions taken by the university concerning the accused senior lecturer. The university’s response to the allegations and the subsequent measures are anticipated to be highlighted.
Previously, Police spokesperson Fred Enanga disclosed that the victim was a student in a secondary school in Mukono district at the time of the alleged incident. Furthermore, it was reported in late January of this year that Dr. Eron had absconded while on Police bond since December 14, 2023, and had been in hiding since then.
