Police in Mitooma district have arrested three people in connection with the murder of a 56-year-old resident.
Martial Tumusiime, the Greater Bushenyi police spokesperson, has identified the three suspects as Kaheru Seiz, 62 years old, Ivan Twinamatsiko, 23 years old, and John Bamanya, 18 years old. They are all residents of Ntungamo Village, Rwanza Parish, Rurehe Sub-County in Mitooma District.
According to Tumusiime, the three allegedly stabbed and murdered Mathias Bimanywoha, also known as Matia, a resident of Kabungo Village, Rwanza Parish, Rurehe Sub-county in Mitooma District.
“On April 16, 2024, when Bimanywoha was returning from his workplace, commonly known as Buganda, he bought waragi at the bar of Jesca Kyarimpa. He told her that the three mentioned people were following him, thinking he had money since he was coming from work,” Tumusiime narrates.
He adds, “Bimanywoha was found dead yesterday, on April 17, 2024, with stab wounds on the forehead. A bottle of waragi was found by his side, which corroborated Jesca’s statement.”
SSP Tumusiime reveals that the trouser pockets of the deceased were turned inside out, indicating that he was robbed of all his valuables, including his salary, since he had been paid on the fateful day.
The body was taken to Kitagata General Hospital for postmortem.
