Police in Rubirizi district are hunting for the LCI chairman on charges of aggravated defilement.
The suspect, identified by Martial Tumusiime, the Greater Bushenyi police spokesperson, as Drake, is the chairman of LCI in Wandegeya village, Nyamabare Parish, Katerera sub-county in Rubirizi District.
Esther Kantebe, the mother of the three-year-old victim, told police that she left her daughter at the home of Kanshabe Provia on May 23, 2024, and went for shopping in Katerera. She only learned the next day from the child that she had been defiled.
“On the 23rd of May 2024, at around 03:00 PM, I left my daughter at Kanshabe Provia’s place and went to Katerera Town for shopping. I came back at around 06:00 PM and slept without any information on what had happened to her. But when I was bathing her the next day, she complained of pain in her private parts, and when I asked her, she told me that the suspect, whom she called uncle, pushed his ‘susu’ (penis) into her vagina,” said the mother of the victim.
Kantebe further told police that her daughter revealed that the suspect lured her into a banana plantation after buying her mango juice, laid her down, and put his private part into hers.
Tumusiime, the police PRO, said a case file was opened for investigation, and the victim was examined on PF 3A.
“We have also recorded statements from relevant witnesses as we hunt for the suspect, who is on the run,” added SSP Tumusiime.
