The Territorial Police at Kira Division has increased its efforts to combat crime by conducting intelligence-led operations in the Kapela Kimbejja and Kyaliwajala areas. During the night of May 27th and 28th, 2024, these operations resulted in the apprehension of 30 suspects. These individuals are currently being held at Kira Division Police Station on allegations of possessing suspected narcotic substances, particularly marijuana.
Additionally, CCTV camera operators played a crucial role in identifying two individuals who were assaulting members of the public. One of the suspects, Mutebi Shafic, was apprehended in Namugongo Agenda 2000 after assaulting someone with a stone. Shafic was found in possession of the stone used in the assault. The victim received immediate medical attention at a nearby hospital, and their identity will be disclosed once they have recovered.
According to Luke Owoyesigyire, Deputy Police Spokesperson for Kampala Metropolitan Police, the operations in Kira Municipality are ongoing, with a specific focus on eliminating crime in the area. Further information will be provided as it becomes available.
