Inquiry Opens into IT Consultant’s “Suicide” at Sudhir’s Tagore High Rise

The investigation into Babirukamu's death is ongoing, with authorities committed to uncovering the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The Uganda Police Force is currently conducting investigations into the death of John Birungi Babirukamu, a 40-year-old ICT specialist and digital marketer residing in Kiwatule, Nakawa Division, Kampala.

According to Luke Owoyesigyire, the Deputy Public Relations Officer at Kampala Metropolitan Police, the incident occurred on Friday, May 31, 2024, at approximately 11:40 am at Tagore Living, located on Turnell Drive, Kamwokya, Central Division in Kampala. The matter was reported to the Kira Road Police Station by the Manager of the premises.




Babirukamu had checked into the premises on May 30th, 2024. He was identified as the deceased in the incident.




Preliminary reports suggest that Babirukamu may have jumped from the Level 2D balcony, falling into the neighbor’s compound and succumbing to his injuries immediately. His body was taken to the City Mortuary in Mulago for a post-mortem examination.




The police are awaiting further information on the exact cause of death.

Before the tragic incident, Babirukamu left a message in the family WhatsApp group. The message expressed remorse for any inconvenience caused in life and asked for forgiveness. It also conveyed love to family members and requested them to kiss his nieces and nephews on his behalf.
