Patrick Okidi,  Obongi District –  An Obongi man has started an apiary business and is now harvesting over 21 million shillings from honey every six months, earning over 2 million shillings per month. Ayub Jackson, a resident of Palorinya East village, Palorinya Parish in Palorinya sub-county, has become a millionaire after investing in an apiary in Obongi District.

Ayub Jackson informed Obongi leaders, including DISO Elyebu Denis, Senior ACAO Mudashir Ulema Noah, and RDC Samuel Mpimbaza Hashaka, that he invested 4 million shillings to purchase 54 beehives. These hives produce over 1000 liters of honey every six months, which he sells for over 21 million shillings.

The district leaders were monitoring projects funded by RICE West Nile NGO, the government, and individual efforts in Obongi District. Ayub has also bought a honey processing machine, which helps him produce high-quality honey.

He mentioned that his main challenge is creating good packaging and branding for his honey. He has requested support from well-wishers for branding, packaging, and other innovations to help him become a model apiary farmer in Uganda. Ayub plans to add 45 more beehives within the next year.
