Rubanda District LC5 Chairperson Ampeire Stephen Kasyaba has witnessed the distribution of farm inputs under the Climate Smart Agriculture project in Bubare Town Council, in a programme aimed at boosting agricultural productivity and improving household incomes.
The inputs distributed include wheelbarrows, 50kg bags of fertilizer, tapelines, spray pumps, gumboots, and protective gear. A total of 12 farmer groups, each comprising 30 members, drawn from all 17 sub-counties of Rubanda District are set to benefit from the initiative.
Speaking to beneficiaries, Kasyaba described the programme as part of government’s broader wealth creation agenda designed to lift households out of poverty through modern and climate-resilient farming practices.
He revealed that Rubanda District was initially not among the 65 districts earmarked for the programme, but later secured inclusion through his intervention.
“I travelled to Kampala and lobbied Minister Henry Musasizi Ariganyira, and we were included,” Kasyaba said.
He further noted that under the same project, the Rubanda–Ikumba Road via the swamp will be rehabilitated at a cost of UGX 94 million, a move expected to improve transport and market access for farmers.
Kasyaba urged residents to fully embrace the initiative and make proper use of the inputs to enhance productivity and household incomes.
Local leaders welcomed the development, with Bubare Town Council Female LC5 Councillor Munobile Joseline commending both Kasyaba and Minister Musasizi for ensuring Rubanda benefits from the programme.
Beneficiary farmer Demitori Niwahanga also expressed gratitude, praising the coordination between local and national leaders in delivering the project to Bubare and the wider district.
The Climate Smart Agriculture project is expected to strengthen food security, promote sustainable farming practices, and improve livelihoods across Rubanda District.
