Museveni Mourns Dr. Alele, Sends Condolences

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni of Uganda has expressed his condolences on the passing of Dr. Alele William Erasmus. His message, delivered by the Lira City Woman MP and Minister of Health, Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng Ocero, honored Dr. Alele for his significant contributions to the health sector.

Dr. Alele was widely recognized for his remarkable journey on foot from Uganda to Egypt, eventually reaching Russia to pursue his medical studies. This courageous act exemplified his determination and commitment to the medical field.




In addition to the heartfelt message, Minister Dr. Aceng conveyed a condolence contribution of 10 million Ugandan Shillings from President Museveni to Dr. Alele’s widow. This gesture was a token of appreciation for Dr. Alele’s service and dedication.




The funeral, held in Bar Akalo in Kole District, drew hundreds of mourners, including MPs from the Lango sub-region and Presidential Advisor Hon. Sam Engola, among others. The large turnout reflected the high regard and respect held for Dr. Alele within the community.




The Widow, Margaret Collen Alele expressed profound gratitude towards Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng for her unwavering support during Dr. Alele’s medical needs. She emphasized that the people of Lango should never take Dr. Aceng for granted, calling her a “huge blessing that should be cherished.”

She also extended her thanks to the staff of Lira Regional Referral Hospital, Mulago, and the clan members of Otikokin for their efforts to save Dr. Alele’s life, acknowledging their dedication despite the unfortunate outcome.
