The Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) has officially opened 52 new housing units at the 507 Brigade headquarters in the 5 Infantry Division, located in Pader district. The units were commissioned by Major General Francis Takirwa, the Deputy Commander of the Land Force.

The newly commissioned units include the residence for the Brigade Commander, accommodation for other ranks, and a Health Centre III. These facilities are part of UPDF’s ongoing efforts to improve living conditions and support services for its soldiers.

During the commissioning ceremony, Maj Gen Takirwa expressed his gratitude to the UPDF leadership for their unwavering support during the construction of these units. He also praised the engineering regiment for their high-quality workmanship and dedication to the project.
Brigadier General Keith Katungi, Commander of the 5 Infantry Division, assured the Deputy Commander that the new facilities would be well-maintained and properly utilized. He highlighted that some of the construction works were funded through savings from the main project, including the Division’s guest house.
The addition of these housing units is a part of the UPDF’s broader initiative to improve the welfare of its personnel by providing adequate accommodation. This initiative is crucial for maintaining the morale and effectiveness of the troops.
