Amolatar – Police in Amolatar District have rescued an unidentified suspect from a mob attack at Amolatar Health Center IV.
The incident occurred on July 19, 2024, at around 9:00 PM. According to a report filed by 19-year-old Omara Robert, a student from Namasale Technical School and a resident of Baronger village, Agwingiri Sub-county, an unknown man attempted to steal a bicycle from the hospital parking lot.
The suspect was spotted by staff in the maternity ward, triggering an alarm that drew a crowd. The mob apprehended the suspect and began to assault him with sticks and stones.
Police were alerted and swiftly responded to the scene, rescuing the suspect. The injured individual was taken to Amolatar Central Police Station for further investigations and subsequently transferred to Amolatar Health Center IV for medical treatment. A roadmaster bicycle, believed to be the intended target of the theft, was recovered and taken to the police station as evidence.
Police are aware of previous theft incidents at the hospital and commend the public for their vigilance. However, they strongly discourage taking the law into one’s own hands and urge residents to report such matters to the authorities.
