Mob Kills Suspected Goat Thief in Lira City

Lira City West police are investigating the murder of a suspected goat thief by a mob on the night of July 25, 2024. The incident occurred in Starch Factory ‘A’ cell, Kirombe ward.

According to North Kyoga Region Police Spokesperson SP Jimmy Patrick Okema, the deceased and two accomplices were allegedly caught stealing goats. While two managed to escape, the third was apprehended and severely beaten by the mob. He was later found unconscious by the roadside and pronounced dead at Lira Regional Referral Hospital.




Police have launched an investigation into the murder and are searching for the suspects. This is the third mob killing in the region within a week, with two previous incidents reported in Oyam District.




Police are urging the public to refrain from taking the law into their own hands and to instead report suspected crimes to authorities.
