Last week, the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) successfully captured a 45-year-old crocodile that had been causing significant distress to residents of Kacwankumu landing site on Lake Albert. The crocodile had been notorious for attacking fishermen and local villagers in the area.
The Problem Animal Capture Team of UWA carried out the operation to address the persistent threat posed by this giant reptile. The crocodile had been linked to several violent incidents, including the death of one person, injuries to two others, and severe wounds to four more individuals.
The capture of this crocodile was a major relief for the affected communities, which had been living in fear due to the reptile’s attacks. The landing site, situated in western Uganda, had seen a rise in crocodile-related incidents, causing considerable anxiety among the local population.
In a statement, UWA emphasized that while the crocodile has been relocated, the communities near the landing site should remain cautious. The authority warned that other crocodiles might still be present in the waters, and ongoing vigilance is necessary to ensure safety.
It must have left its generation in that water ☹️☹️
