On August 2, 2024, at approximately 2:00 PM, the Katwe Division Police in Kampala Metropolitan South carried out a significant operation that led to the arrest of Kizito Isaac, known as Kamese. Kamese, a notorious robber residing in Kisangani Zone, Masaja-Makindye Division in Kampala City, was apprehended following a series of criminal activities.
Kamese had recently broken into the home of Ssendija Mike, where he stole a mattress, DVD player, phone, and cash amounting to 400,000 Ugandan shillings. Following his arrest, Kamese guided the police to his accomplices, all of whom also lived in Kisangani, Masaja ward.
In total, eight suspects were detained during the operation. The police recovered various stolen items, including televisions, a refrigerator, hoofers, mattresses, and flat irons. The arrested individuals are:
- Ssegawa Ronald, 19, a resident of Kikajjo Masaja ward.
- Hamza Jjuko Kasobiti, 26, on the police watchlist, resident of Kisangani Masaja.
- Turyasingura Abel, 19, a resident of Kibutika Ndejje.
- Kitoogo Tonny, 18, on the police watchlist, resident of Masaja.
- Kamanzi Emmanuel, 38, a resident of Kisangani Masaja.
- Kanyango Isaac, 25, a resident of Kisangani Masaja.
- Kizito Isaac, 24, on the police watchlist, resident of Mirimu Zone.
- Kiyingo Wusama, 27, a resident of Kikajo Masaja.
The police operation was deemed successful, capturing some of the most dangerous criminals in the area. Notably, four of the suspects were already on the police intelligence watchlist.
It was also discovered that the suspects had a storage location where they kept stolen goods while seeking buyers. Some of the individuals posed as scrap collectors to identify and target potential victims.
ACP Kituuma Rusoke, the police spokesperson, confirmed the progress and effectiveness of the operation. He emphasized the ongoing efforts to combat crime and maintain public safety.
