Kisoro municipal health authorities, in collaboration with the Oc Gatimba community police post, led by Kalan Zadok, have issued a stern warning to chapati and Nyamakyoma operators who are operating without proper licenses and medical certificates.

Acar Moses, the municipal health inspector, stated that hotel, bars, chapati, and Nyamakyoma operators must strictly adhere to proper sanitation and hygiene standards to prevent the spread of diseases among their customers. Many individuals, including those from the DRC, Rwanda, and Kisoro residents, can contract illnesses if these businesses have poor hygiene practices.

Moses urged operators to comply with the quality guidelines set by the municipal authorities, warning that failure to do so could result in the closure of their businesses by early next month.

Additionally, OC Kalan Zadok expressed concerns about the rising incidence of domestic violence, which he believes hinders community development. He noted that such violence has become more prevalent at the police post, often stemming from immoral conduct learned by children from their parents, which they later replicate in their own marriages.

Zadok appealed to married couples to support each other and actively work together to combat domestic violence within their homes.

Meanwhile, Mark Niyonkuru, the Division Intelligence Security Officer (DISO) of Northern Division in Kisoro Municipality, condemned the act of sharing alcohol on the same bottle and called upon bar operators to embrace standard operating procedures as a better way to combat the spread of MPOX.

He further encouraged residents to participate in neighborhood watch programs to improve security in their communities within Kisoro Municipality.
