(Kampala) – Corporal Geoffrey Otim, a police officer from Wandegeya Police Station, is currently missing following the death of his wife, Zaina Nansubuga. The incident, which took place on October 1, 2024, has raised concerns, with the Kampala Metropolitan Police calling for Otim to report himself to authorities. Deputy Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesman Luke Owoyesigyire revealed that Otim’s whereabouts remain unknown since the death of Nansubuga, which occurred after a suspected domestic dispute.
Nansubuga was discovered dead on October 2, following a call for help from her sister, who suspected foul play after a physical altercation between the couple. According to the Police, the case was brought to their attention after the sister contacted them, concerned about the situation. The body was later transported to Mulago Hospital for an examination.
Although the initial physical examination of Nansubuga’s body showed no visible injuries, the Police are awaiting the results of a post-mortem to determine the actual cause of death. The authorities are treating the case with caution, but Otim’s disappearance has raised suspicion about his possible involvement.
In his statement, Owoyesigyire clarified that Otim is not officially labeled a fugitive, but emphasized that it is standard procedure for him to report to a nearby Police station given the seriousness of the circumstances. “His failure to do so has heightened suspicion surrounding his involvement in the case,” Owoyesigyire said. Despite repeated appeals, Otim has yet to come forward, leaving investigators to pursue the case without his cooperation.
