(Jinja) – A dedicated team of enforcement agents in Jinja took decisive action against smuggling operations in the area on the night of Tuesday, October 17, 2024. The agents aimed to intercept a truck, identified by its registration number KCQ675Y, which was suspected of transporting illicit goods. Using their training and resources, the team tracked the vehicle swiftly to ensure that none of its potentially contraband cargo was offloaded before it could be secured.
The operation was meticulously coordinated, allowing the enforcement team to seize the truck just in time. The vehicle’s contents were subsequently transported to the Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) office in Jinja for further investigation. Upon verification, the team discovered a diverse assortment of contraband, including two bales of screen-printed spun Rayon, six rolls of curtain material, 42 cartons of light meat tuna, nine cartons of white oats, and eleven cartons of home fruit cordial.
The successful interception of the truck was not the only achievement for the Jinja enforcement team that night. Acting on intelligence received, the team also executed a raid on another suspected consolidation point in Mbiko. This operation uncovered a significant stash of rice and Kitenge fabrics. The seized items included 22 bags of Bahraf rice, 23 bags of Sana Parboiled rice, and four bales of single face Kitenge fabric.
