Police in Buhweju District are investigating the death of a 28-year-old man who was allegedly beaten to death by a mob.
The deceased, identified as Kiiza Louis, a resident of Rwomushojwa Cell, Kashenyi Ward, Kashenyi-Kajani Town Council in Bushenyi District, was found dead in a banana plantation in Kateeba on Thursday, October 24, 2024.
It is alleged that on October 21, 2024, Louis and another individual, Nuwarinda Robert, were apprehended by locals for stealing chickens from Rose, a resident of Katabogo-Kijumbura, Bihanga Sub-County.
Both suspects were reportedly assaulted at the home of Frank Ainemukama Kashaija. While Nuwarinda was later found and recovered by his relatives, Louis remained missing until his body was discovered.
Upon receiving a report from the deceased’s mother, Abenawe Everlyn, police visited the scene, documented evidence, recorded statements, and transported the body to Nsiika Health Center IV for a postmortem examination.
Greater Bushenyi Police Spokesperson SSP Marcial Tumusiime confirmed the incident and stated that investigations into the matter are ongoing.
