House Fire in Busega Leaves Three Children Dead

Three children lost their lives in a house fire in Busega, Kampala, while two family members were injured and are currently hospitalized.

(Busega) – Police in Busega have begun investigating the tragic circumstances surrounding a house fire that resulted in the deaths of three children. The incident occurred at Kitaka Zone in Rubaga Division, Kampala District.

According to ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, the Deputy Public Relations Officer for Kampala Metropolitan Police, the fire broke out at the residence of Mr. Mugerwa Anest. Ms. Nakimera Moreen was the first to report the fire to the authorities.




“Police from Nateete Division, led by ASP Kalyango, responded promptly to the scene, but the fire had already been contained by members of the public,” Owoyesigyire stated.




The deceased children, identified as 11 year old Nalukwago Danila, 6 year old Lukwago Darius, and 3 year old Muwanguzi Diego succumbed to suffocation caused by carbon monoxide.




In addition to the three fatalities, two family members, Mr. Mugerwa Anest (the father) and his son, Mugerwa Marvin, were rescued from the blaze. They are currently receiving treatment at Mulago Hospital for their injuries, as confirmed by Owoyesigyire.

The police are actively investigating the cause of the fire, seeking to determine how the incident occurred.
