Kitara Football Club has appointed experienced coach Wasswa Bbosa as their new head coach. Bbosa brings a wealth of experience to the role, having previously led Express FC to the Uganda Premier League title and the CECAFA Kagame Cup three years ago.
His coaching career includes roles at SC Villa, Tooro United FC, Express FC, Gaddafi FC, and most recently, Mbarara City FC.
The appointment comes after the departure of head coach Brian Ssenyondo and his technical team. Kitara, currently struggling at the bottom of the Uganda Premier League table, hopes that Bbosa’s expertise can help turn their fortunes around.
Bbosa is anticipated to bring a fresh tactical approach as Kitara fights to climb out of the relegation zone. Currently placed 14th with only four points from six matches, the team is in urgent need of a turnaround.
Bbosa’s first test as head coach will come quickly, as Kitara is set to face URA in Kampala on Friday, November 1, at Hamz Stadium in Nakivubo. Supporters are hopeful that his debut will spark an upswing in Kitara’s form.
A respected figure in Ugandan football, Bbosa has previously managed top-tier clubs like Express, Gaddafi, and most recently, Mbarara City.
His most notable achievement came in the 2020/21 season when he led Express to win the Uganda Premier League title and the CECAFA Kagame Cup, showcasing his capability to inspire and elevate teams in challenging circumstances.
He is expected to bolster the team’s performance and results after a poor start to the 2024/25 Uganda Premier League campaign.
His assignment begins with Friday’s fixture against URA FC away at Hamz Stadium in Nakivubo. Kitara has just four points from a possible 18; they beat Lugazi FC, drew 1-1 with Mbarara, and lost to NEC FC, KCCA FC, Police FC, and BUL FC.
